These Brave Souls Share Their Most Bizarre and Intense McDonald’s Experiences

McDonald’s is so popular because it’s fast, cheap, and convenient. Inevitably, some people will see some strange things there.

A few brave Reddit users decided to spill the beans about some intense experiences there. Their tales are below so you can gasp too.

10. “I Just Sat There in Shock”

Some people will go through great lengths to keep you from touching their stuff.

“As a kid, I was in Detroit at a McDs and went to walk to my table after ordering. Well the guy in front of me was walking out with his order in front of me. He proceeded to leave the doors and brandished a pistol and point it at a couple kids nearby outside. As I sat down, I kept watching him out the window in disbelief. It seemed he was using it to keep the kids away from getting his food. I had no idea what to do and just sat there in shock.” — Chosen2One3

9. “The Cashier Was Super Flustered”

Seems like a tough day!

“Went pretty late at night with 2 friends but we were picking up for a big group. We ended up ordering about 20 McDoubles and 10 McChickens. The cashier was super flustered because they didn’t have a lot of employees working at the time. The manager stepped in and started cranking out McDoubles at lightning speed. I’ve still never had a McDonald’s order that efficient.” —gogiants1226

8. “This Time I Was Able to Save My Food…”

At least this user’s food was safe.

“Oh god. This also happens to be one of my most embarrassing moments.

One time I went in and ordered a dine-in meal. I took my tray of food over to my table and had to cross a “wet floor” area. I slipped like someone on the movies: completely backward, food flying over my head. The staff was nice enough to comp me a fresh meal.

I start to take THAT tray over to the soda machine, slip AGAIN, though this time I was able to save my food by sort of placing it on the counter as I was slipping

Couldn’t save my pride, though. A woman looked at me trying to pull myself off my ass the second time and said, “Are you OKAY??” with a not very subtle tone of disgust.

I think I was wearing new shoes and the soles were extra slick. But OMG.”

7. “That Was a Good Day…”

At least this one has a happy ending.

“This might not be the story you were looking for, but once in high school on lunch break, me and four friends went to a McDonald’s that was known for being a little sketchy, very inner city. We were all good friends so we would always pool our money so everyone could eat. We could only come up with five bucks between us so everyone got one of those one dollar chicken sandwiches they used to have, and we were not satisfied. Then as we were preparing to leave, a little old lady with a big smile came up to our table and said “you know what I see here? Brotherhood.” Weren’t sure what she meant at first, but then we realized that our group consisted of two white kids, one black, one Asian, and one Indian, which would be something she didn’t see much growing up when she was our age. She was so pleased she gave us another five dollars. We each got another sandwich, that was a good day.”—kitchenmutineer

6. A Man “Asked Why I Talk the Way I Do”

Oh no… just no!

“I have a Speech Impediment.

I was coming back from the Hospital because one of my clients was in there for Surgery. I was hungry so I stopped at the McDonald across the street. After I wait in line and I’m done placing my order the man behind me asked why I talk the way I do. Then he started to give me improvised in the spot Speech Therapy.

The worst part? I don’t even think he was a Speech Pathologist.”—northboundcentreriot

5. “We Stopped… So I Could Puke”

Another wholesome tale!

“I flew from ANC to LAX and tend to get travel sick. We were on our way to Disneyland and drove through Compton for some reason and I knew I was going to be sick so we stopped at a McD’s so I could puke. There was a group of super sweet black ladies in the bathroom who held my hair while I projectile vomited. Wasn’t a crazy experience or anything but definitely the most interesting thing that happened in a McDonald’s.”—CatherineConstance

4. “My Ticket Came Out to be $6.66…”

One Reddit user left with some blessings.

“No joke, my ticket came out to be $6.66 and immediately the cashier was like “May God Bless You…’”—YoKris

3. “Someone Found a Hair…”

This is actually sweet.

“When I was in high school, my friends and I used to go to McDonald’s and order a bunch of large fries, then dump them all together on a tray and go to town. Well, once we were about 3/4 of the way through a Fry Tray (TM) and someone found a hair. So they replaced the entire order with a new one”—DenL4242

2. “My Mom Tried to Get Me Out…”

You’ve got to game the system!

“When I was about 4 or 5 years old the playpen was temporarily closed. I was small enough to fit between the bars and had the whole thing to myself for like 3 minutes while my mom tried to get me out. Was eventually asked to leave. Worth it, though.”—ThatAtheistGirl

1. “Oops! I Got in The Wrong Car!”

McDonald’s is strange indeed.

“My wife and I were coming out of a McDonald’s and walking toward our car. As I approached it my driver’s side opened and an elderly lady climbed out holding 2 iced coffees. My wife and I just stared at her and she said: “oops I got in the wrong car” she then walked to her car 2 spaces away that looked nothing like my car. We busted up laughing at her and might have made her feel bad. It was just so funny.” —clearedasfiled

Thankfully everyone made it safely out of McDonald’s. You can read more stories on the original Reddit thread. If you’ve had an intense McDonald’s experience, we’d certainly enjoy knowing about it. Comment below if you wish!

A Woman Warned Against Propping Your Feet on a Dashboard After Ending up Without a Forehead

When she was 22, Gráinne Kealy got into a car accident in 2007. Her boyfriend at the time was driving, so put her feet up on the dashboard to relax.

Then the couple slipped on some ice and collided with a wall.

She wound up with an uncommon injury because of her seemingly inconsequential decision.

Kealy says,

“My feet were on top of the airbag and, I know now, they inflate at 200mph. The force of that meant my knees were sent back into my face really powerfully. I broke nearly every bone in my face. I had a brain leak [called a CSF (Cerebrospinal Fluid)] and I lost two teeth.”

Kealy and her boyfriend were taken to the hospital for medical attention. They were both okay, but one day she woke up with an infection on her forehead that caused it to slowly sink.

Me with no forehead – wow those eyebrows though ??

Posted by Gráinne Kealy on Thursday, August 10, 2017

Adjusting to life without a forehead was difficult, but necessary because Kealy was without a forehead for two full years.

“For a long time, I was afraid to leave the house. I became a bit of a hermit. I didn’t want to go out and then when I did go out, I would get looks. I bought hats to cover it. I was also worried about banging my head.”

Doctors were able to construct a replacement for her out of ceramic, but Kealy still suffers from health complications – it isn’t easy to get over brain and head injuries. She now speaks out about her accident so that others won’t end up in her condition.

Cows in Russia Are Wearing Virtual Reality Headsets Showing ‘Summer Fields’ to Combat Their Winter Depression

In Russia, cows are getting a new tool to help fight the winter blues that a lot of us deal with. A dairy farm in that country is outfitting its cows with virtual reality headsets to help the animals tone down their anxiety and to fight their winter depression. The moooooove (see what I did there?) is also intended to boost milk production from the farm animals.

The headsets display green fields and pastures to the cows in order to make them feel more relaxed. The project is taking place at RusMoloko farm, outside of Moscow.

The Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the Moscow Region said that the virtual reality headsets have achieved “a decrease in anxiety and an increase in the overall emotional mood of the herd.”

The plan is to monitor the cows wearing the headsets to see if their milk production increases throughout the winter. The ministry said that “technology improvements should impact the industry as a whole.”

In addition to the look of green fields and pastures, the developers of the virtual reality headsets gave the design a predominantly red color scheme because studies have shown that cows see red better than other colors of the spectrum.

Is this the wave of the future in farming? Will the results show that the impact of these VR headsets is positive among the cattle and this technology become commonplace for animals?

Time will tell…

But I think I might need to get my hands on one of these for myself this winter.

Plastic Straws Aren’t the Biggest Offenders When It Comes to Oceanic Plastic Pollution

Well, this is interesting…

Plastic straws have been in the news lately, and not for anything good. People want to get rid of them, and consumers have been encouraging businesses and consumers alike to get on board in order to start trying to mitigate single-use plastics’ devastating effect on the world’s marine ecosystems.

But plastic straws only make up about .02% of ocean waste – not that much, in the scheme of things.

It turns out, that there’s a much bigger enemy to ocean life: cigarette butts.

According to an NBC News report, cigarette butts are the number one human contaminant in the ocean, but they have not, thus far, been significantly regulated.

The filters on cigarettes are made of cellulose acetate, which takes more than a decade to decompose. 60 million cigarette butts have been collected on the world’s beaches since 1986.

Cigarette makers invented the filters to alleviate health concerns (lol), but they created a concurrent pollution problem because smokers “flick” their butts – a habit no anti-littering campaign has been able to curb.

The Cigarette Butt Pollution Project hopes they can finally change attitudes with their new campaign.

“Cigarette butt waste has polluted our beaches, parks, and communities long enough – it’s time to take action!”

The U.S. government has attempted to curb the problem here and there, but legislation proposing to ban filters or raise the costs of cigarettes to cover the clean-up have sputtered and died.

A theme park in France has trained ravens to pick up cigarette butts in exchange for treats, but, though awesome, that’s not exactly a global solution.

View this post on Instagram

For those who think cigarette smoking is cool please think again. It doesn't only pollute you but also the environment immensely. Trillions of cigarette butts are thrown into the environment every year, where they leach nicotine and heavy metals before turning into microplastic pollution. Smokers around the world buy roughly 6.5 trillion cigarettes each year. That’s 18 billion every day. While most of a cigarette’s innards and paper wrapping disintegrate when smoked, not everything gets burned. Trillions of cigarette filters—also known as butts or ends—are left over, only an estimated third of which make it into the trash. The rest are casually flung into the street or out a window. Cigarette filters are made of a plastic called cellulose acetate. When tossed into the environment, they dump not only that plastic, but also the nicotine, heavy metals, and many other chemicals they’ve absorbed into the surrounding environment. . . As with the campaigns against plastic straws, it’s going to take a concentrated, sustained, and – most important – publicly supported effort to reduce the number of cigarette filters that end up in the oceans.

Do your part, and also…maybe don’t smoke in the first place? Because cigarettes kill more than marine life.

Just sayin’.
