A Travel Influencer Admits to Photoshopping Her Pics After People Keep Noticing the Same Cloud Formation

This influencer culture is kind of weird, right?

A travel influencer with more than 300,000 Instagram followers has admitted to using Photoshop to add cloud formations to some of her photos after people noticed the clouds were the same in multiple photos.

Tupi Saravia said that she uses photo editing software after screenshots of some of her Instagram photos went viral.

Saravia said in an email, “I can’t believe how far this went I used an app called Quickshot to help the composition of the photograph when the sky is burned or overexposed.” She added, “I just happened to like that one.”

She continued, “They were always aware about this [photo editing] because I never hide it I always tell [them] the apps I use. Actually I’m the first one to tell the joke [that] the clouds are following me around the world.”

People weighed in online after the story came to light.

If you ask me (and I know you didn’t), the whole thing is just strange. I guess traveling for free and getting products at no cost would be nice for a while, but how long can that really last? There was a survey put out this summer that revealed that American kids would rather be YouTube stars than astronauts. If that’s not depressing, I don’t know what is.

I’m shaking my head over here…

Studies Show That Children Who Grow up Around Their Grandparents Are Happier and Less Likely to Be Depressed

I’ve always been jealous of people who grew up close to their grandparents and so were able to enjoy that bond. My family moved around so much when I was growing up that my grandparents lived far away, and I was only able to meet them a few times while they were still alive.

Beyond the love, care, and guidance that grandparents give to their grandkids, research shows that this special relationship is even more beneficial than we thought.

A 2016 study shows that children who have close emotional ties with their grandparents have a reduced risk of becoming depressed. The study was conducted by researchers from Boston College who analyzed data collected over a 19-year period.

More good news came out of the study as well. Grandparents also benefit from a close relationship with their grandkids, and the older folks are less likely to show depressive symptoms as well.

Another study, out of the University of Oxford, found that kids who had close relationships with their grandparents coped better with difficult and traumatic life events, such as bullying or going through a divorce. This research also showed that kids with a higher level of involvement from grandparents in their lives had fewer behavioral and emotional problems and that they dealt with life changes in a healthy way.

Kimberly Agresta, of the Agresta Psychotherapy Group, said:

“If parents regularly involve grandparents in their child’s life early on, a child can develop real emotional closeness to the grandparents and begin to see the grandparent as a source of strong social support. So a child will feel that they have other adults, aside from their parents, who love and care about them in the same way, and this adds to their sense of stability and security.”

If you grew up around your grandparents, consider yourself a lucky person.

Celebrate the 25th Anniversary of ‘My So-Called Life’ with These 10 Facts

Believe it or not, it’s been 25 years since the still-popular TV show My So-Called Life, a heartfelt portrayal of the struggles of mid-1990s teenagers and their families, debuted on ABC.

While the show only lasted for 19 episodes, from August 25, 1994, until January 26, 1995, My So-Called Life left a permanent mark on pop culture history.

Here are 10 facts about the show to celebrate the 25th anniversary of its premiere.

1. Alicia Silverstone was almost in the mix

1990’s “It Girl” Alicia Silverstone almost played the lead role of Angela Chase, which eventually went to Claire Danes. Silverstone was deemed to be “too pretty” by Marshall Herskovitz, one of the executive producers of the show. He felt the character of Angela was too confused and awkward and Silverstone wasn’t the perfect fit for the role.

2. A big first

The character of Rickie Vasquez (played by Wilson Cruz) was the first openly gay teenager on American network television.

3. A different Jordan?

Jared Leto almost turned down the role of Jordan Catalano. The character was only supposed to appear in the pilot episode, but the producers realized they had something special with Leto and decided to make him a continuing character.

At the time, however, Leto was considering going to art school instead of acting, so he almost turned down the role. Good move.

4. Where’s Tino?

There is a running joke in the series about a character named Tino, who is mentioned over and over again, but is never seen.

5. A real school

Although the show takes place in a suburb of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the show was actually shot at a real high school in Los Angeles: University High School

6. Voiceovers

Only two episodes in the series didn’t feature voiceovers by Angela Chase, played by Claire Danes. They were “Weekend,” which Danielle Chase narrated, and “Life of Brian,” which Brian Krakow narrated.

7. Save the show!

Fans were so rabid about My So-Called Life that they teamed up to try to save the show from being canceled. Operation Life Support was the first online fan campaign launched to try to save a TV show. ABC received thousands of letters from fans, but the show was ultimately canceled after 19 episodes.

8. Award winner

Claire Danes won a Golden Globe award for her role as Angela Chase for Best Actress in a Drama Television Series. She was only 15 years old at the time.

9. Best Dad Ever

Graham Chase (played by Tom Irwin) was named one of TV Guide’s “Top 50 TV Dads of All Time.” Not too shabby.

10. Tough competition

My So-Called Life was praised by critics, but the low ratings the show received ultimately sank the whole thing. Part of the issue was the competitive time slot the show was placed in – it aired on Thursday nights at 8pm EST, up against Friends, Mad About You, and Martin.

The World’s First Salmon ATM Is Now Open in Singapore

In a mall in Singapore, you can buy Norwegian salmon out of an ATM machine. The ATM opened in January 2019 in the Wisteria shopping mall and proved to be so popular that there are now dozens of ATMS supplying 200-gram fillets of salmon around Singapore.

The company behind the vending machines, Norwegian Salmon Pte Ltd, intends to make salmon affordable for everyone by cutting out a lot of costs: storefronts, distributors, staff, etc. The fillets sell for $4.25 (U.S.), which sounds like a pretty great deal to me. The salmon in the machines is kept at -4 degrees Fahrenheit, so it can remain fresh for up to two years.

Singapore was a natural choice for the company to establish the salmon vending machines because the fish is very popular there and the city-state is known for its vending culture. People in Singapore get many things from vending machines, including ice cream, pizza, salads, books – even luxury cars.

Norwegian Salmon Pte Ltd’s founder and CEO, Manish Kumar, who is from Norway, said about his company’s product:

“Part of the reason why I made sure to show that my product is Norwegian salmon and not just any salmon is because Norway has such high standards for sustainability, health, and safety when it comes to the farmed salmon that it exports. The motivation for the Norwegian Salmon ATM was to make Norwegian salmon time- and cost-effective for everyday people. We put the nutrition facts for our salmon on the front of every ATM because we are proud of how healthy it is.”

The machines do not accept cash, but they are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

A Boy Befriends a Second-Grader with Autism Who Was Having a Rough First Day at School

We see so many news and social media stories about how kids are cruel and mean and they have no respect these days. Well, I think this wholesome story might refresh you perspective on that way of thinking.

The first day of school is rough for anyone, and that was definitely the case for a second-grader in Wichita, Kansas, named Connor Crites. The young boy is autistic, and, as happens with people on the spectrum, he became overwhelmed with the back-to-school routine and started crying.

That’s when a fellow second-grader named Christian Moore stepped in. He saw Crites crying, so he went over to hold Crites’ hand and console the boy. Moore’s mother was nearby, and she snapped a photo of the encounter that she shared the story of Facebook, where it quickly went viral.

Moore’s caption on her photo read “I’m so proud of my son, he seen a kid balled up into a corner crying, so he went to console him, grabbed his hand and walked him inside of the school! It is an honor to raise such a loving, compassionate child! He’s a kid with a Big heart, the first day of school started off right.”

Connor Crites’ mother April responded to the heartfelt gesture. She said, “That’s all I can ask for, is someone to be open to him like that. I’m so happy that something so positive is coming from all this, that my son got a friend, hopefully a friend for life.” April also explained that her son was nonverbal until he was 5 years old.

Connor himself said about the encounter, “He was kind to me. I was in the first day of school and I started crying. Then he helped me and I was happy.”

Cinnamon Roll Shooters Leave Pumpkin Spice in the Dust. Check It Out.

A Woman Caught a Fish with Two Mouths in Upstate New York

This woman’s fishing trip took a strange turn when she reeled in a fish with two mouths.

Debbie Geddes was fishing on Lake Champlain in upstate New York when she caught the unusual animal. She told Fox News that when the fish initially bit her line, she felt like it was a quite large one. But she had no idea what she was about to reel onto the boat.

“When we got it in the boat I couldn’t believe what I was seeing!” Debbie said. “Two mouths! And yet this fish was healthy and thriving! Pretty amazing.”

Debbie and her husband took photos of the unique fish, then released it back into the water. Debbie’s co-worker, Adam Facteau, knew that people had to see this, so he uploaded a photo to Facebook.

“She wasn’t convinced anyone would care about the catch,” Adam said. “I knew it would be popular.”

He was right. The photo went viral, and people have been debating over the cause of the two mouths ever since. Debbie personally thinks that the Lake Trout’s second “mouth” was created by a previous injury. Many commenters also blamed pollution.

“Well, I think everyone has an opinion, which makes it interesting for discussion,” Adam said.

He’s personally not so sure of the cause. He says an injury is “possible.”

“However, Lake Champlain is also known for being a sewage dumping ground from Canada and (Vermont). Plus, many of these fish are stocked.”

The couple met and married in 2016, but 9 months later Laura suffered a brain injury leaving her with no memory of Braydon.

She was setting up an event when a large tent pole collapsed and struck her on the head. When she woke, her most recent memories were from when she was 17 years old.

She spent the next two years in near constant pain and needing to relearn everything. And since she didn’t remember anything from after she was 17, the man whom she fell in love with and married had become a stranger. She couldn’t even watch her own wedding video or look at the photographs of what should have been remembered as the best day in her life without crumbling.

We all know the lines are long and there are too many people at Disney on any given day, but why should the single people be the ones to stay away? Who says Disney is only for kids?

This lady, I guess, but from the sound of most of the responses, not a whole lot of others.
