This Bride Had a List of “Wedding Rules” and Got Called Out For It

I don’t know when the word “Bridezilla” officially entered our lives, but I think we can all agree that it’s here to stay.

Heck, who am I kidding? Bridezillas have always existed! We just didn’t have a word for them back in the day!

And someone shared a bunch of screenshots from a bride-to-be that seemed to be…a little intense. Yeah, that’s a nice way of putting it.

First off, take a look at the rules for the wedding.

Yes, you read that correctly. There are rules to be followed, according to this gal.

As you can imagine, the rules were not exactly embraced by the guests of the wedding.

This is how some folks responded and you can see that there was a little back-and-forth with the bride here.

Then things got a little more heated up and the bride tried to put her future mother-in-law on blast in the message thread.

This person made a good point: maybe she needs to talk to the future MIL instead of forcing all the rules down the throats of the other guests.

And apparently, there was an incident at a Texas Roadhouse, FYI…

Also, remember that there will be NO RUSHING at this wedding!

And don’t forget about the nit-picking…

I think these are probably common sense, don’t you?

But Bridezilla was starting to get angry…

And then you can tell that Bridezilla got a little fired up and decided to lash out.

Ouch!

Oh, boy!

I bet that was a fun wedding to go to!

Have you ever had to deal with any Bridezillas before?

If so, please share your stories with us in the comments.

We’d love to hear from you!

This Person Wants to Uninvite Someone to Their Wedding. Are They Wrong?

We got another family drama story for you!

Do you think you can handle it!

Well, we’re about to find out…

Check out this story from the “Am I The A**hole” page on Reddit that involves in-laws and a strange threat…

AITA for uninviting MIL’s fiancée to my wedding after he threatened to pour wine on me?

“For some background we aren’t very close to MIL or her fiancé. She feels we took FILs side in the divorce and she has always kept her distance.

The other day we were at my fiancé’s grandparents house. MILs sister made a joke that MIL should be one of those MILs and wear white. MIL just laughed. It doesn’t really seem like something she would do but I added that my bridesmaids would soak her in wine if she did.

MILs fiancé said that would be hilarious because he would destroy my wedding gown. I asked what he meant and he said he would empty a bottle on me if any of my stupid friends did anything to her. MIL tried to move the conversation along but I have anxiety about stuff like that and it was bothering me. I said he can’t come to the wedding because I can’t trust him.

MIL called me this morning and wanted to confirm if I was serious. I said I was (not the first incident, he has been rude in the past) MIL started crying and said she isn’t going to be around her ex husband without him. I said that was pretty vain but her choice.

Now MIL isn’t coming, which we don’t care too much but her whole side of the family is furious. Her dad might not come now which will bother my fiancé.”

Now let’s check out how Reddit users responded.

This person made it simple: everyone in this story sucks and they’re all to blame.

This reader agreed that everyone is pretty bad in this story and argued that the person who wrote the post is just as much to blame as everyone else.

Another individual said that everyone here is to blame…except for the mother-in-law.

Lastly, this person was adamant that the mother-in-law definitely did not do anything wrong but that everyone else involved is an a**hole. Boom!

Okay, you know the drill…

Now we want to hear from you.

I’ve done quite a bit of video production work in the past, and some of that has been creating wedding videos.

When my associates and I would take those projects, we really went above and beyond to stitch together something memorable for the clients. We took special care to customize and ensure a high quality of product.

And you know what? It was a huge waste of time.

Because nobody. Ever. Watches. Their. Wedding video.

For weddings, pictures are still where it’s at. The photos are the things that get revisited, and that last. For better, or, as these Reddit posts demonstrate, for worse.

She Had the Police Go to Her Stepsister’s Wedding. Is She a Jerk?

It’s the cops! Everybody run!

Okay, I guess the people involved in this story couldn’t really run for it because they were at a wedding…which makes this story so strange.

Read on to see what happened in this entry from the “Am I The A**hole?” page on Reddit.

AITA For sending the police to my stepsister’s wedding?

“I (f32) lost my mom when I was 23.

It was by far the most traumatic loss I had experienced. I just couldn’t and didn’t want to accept her death. It was unfair, untimely, and preventable. I got in therapy and was doing better but I had issues with my dad’s new wife and her daughter who’s 25 and just got married weeks ago.

We do not have a close relationship but we were cordial enough to sit at dinner tables. My stepsister treats me as a relative and was as much distant from me. But after my father got sick we had to see each other a lot. I’m handling his care while stepmom works full time and stepsister doesn’t do much though she’s always visiting when I moved in to help my dad.

Before that I was living with my ex so returing home was just in time. I brought with me all of my mom’s belongings and my stepsister showed interest in my mom’s necklace and asked if she could borrow it to wear it at her wedding. I refused and she tried every method to convince me i had to put it in a place where I thought it’d be safe after my stepmother got involved.

As the wedding approached they both kept convincing me to let my stepsister have it (she bragged about affording a better one but it was a matter of showing who’s in control) I stood my ground and told them how serious I was so they backed off.

I didn’t attend the wedding to stay with my dad. I remember wanting to change where I was hiding the necklace while the house was empty but I found it was gone. After searching for hours, I called my stepmom and she said not to worry my stepsister took it and will return it when the wedding is over but it was clear that I won’t see it til after the honeymoon since she said her daughter was staying at a hotel.

I screamed at her to return it but she argued about not wanting to leave the guests and the wedding already started. I told her I’d get it myself but she forbid me from coming saying she’d have to keep me out for wanting to make a scene. I called the Police and explained to them what was happening. I informed them my stepsister intended to leave for her honeymoon with my property.

The Police were sent to where the wedding was being held and they were able to retrieve the necklace from my stepsister. She and my stepmom were in shock and livid. She (stepmom) returned home and kept shouting at me calling me petty and crazy to send the police to my stepsister’s wedding. ruining it and humiliating them over a piece of jewelry.

She was screaming at my sick dad telling him to handle me after the stunt that I pulled at the wedding. I defended myself saying I only wanted an item that belonged to me THAT THEY TOOK WITHOUT PERMISSION returned. She argued further that I could’ve waited to get it back but I chose to burn the bridge with my stepsister and said that she considers me dead after this. She said stuff I can’t mention here but all I can say is it was a bad night.

I might have overreacted by getting the police involved but I had no gaurantee of getting the necklace back since I have experience with them in the past.

AITA?”

Now let’s check out how Reddit users responded to this story.

This person said that this woman is not the a**hole here and that her step-family most definitely is.

Another Reddit user said that the stepdaughter is acting this way because she most likely learned it from her own mother.

Another individual said that this was indeed the worst kind of humiliation…and that’s some pretty good revenge, don’t you think?

And lastly, this person argued that the stepsister only did this because SHE is the a**hole and wanted to upset the woman who wrote the post.

A Man Told His Fiancée He Didn’t Like Her Wedding Dress. Is He a Jerk?

I don’t know if it’s EVER a good idea to tell a woman you don’t like something she’s wearing…

And if it’s the wedding dress they picked out? Forget about it! Here come the fireworks!

Take a look at this story from Reddit’s “Am I The A**hole?” page and keep reading to see how readers reacted.

AITA for telling my Fiancee I don’t like her wedding dress?

“So my fiancee and I are getting married in 9 months.

She’s been dress shopping with her girls for months now. She found the dress she loved and bought it, and was too excited to keep it a secret. She showed me pics of the bridesmaids dresses and I told her they were pretty, they match my groomsmen suits really well.

Anyway, she brought her dress out and asked what I thought. I specifically asked her if she wants the God’s honest truth and wants me to critique the dress or if she knows she loves it and just wants to show me. She said she wanted my opinion.

She put the dress on and came out of the bathroom and I would be lying if I said I wasn’t a little disappointed. She’s a beautiful woman and looks incredible in anything of course, but the dress completely dwarfed her and didn’t really fit the wedding theme she has worked so hard for.

She wanted a foresty, magical and whimsical, type theme. Flower crowns on the bridesmaids etc. But she chose a super sparkly dress with a HUGE skirt, which looked nothing like the simply, body hugging sexy dresses she had been repeatedly showing me. She picked basically a huge Disney princess dress and I just didn’t like how it looked at all.

I was honest when I told her I didn’t like it and I was surprised she picked it because it just doesn’t seem to match her and I just thought it was too much poof and sparkle. She got really quiet and stormed back upstairs, and then stormed out of the house and went to her Moms.

Texted me saying she couldn’t believe I would say I didn’t like it and what a d**khead I am and has blocked number. This is our first major fight and I’m just so annoyed because I ASKED if she wanted a real opinion and she said yes.

AITA for telling her I don’t like the dress?”

Now let’s see how readers reacted to this story…

This person said that the guy is not an a**hole…but he’s an idiot. Ouch. That hurts.

Another reader came up with a whole plan on how to dissolve the situation.

Let’s hope that maybe this works…

But this Reddit user said that he shouldn’t lie and that he needs to put in a little bit of legwork to try to let her down easy…but no lies!

And this person also thinks that the man shouldn’t lie but that he needs to find something specific about what he likes about the dress to make her feel a little bit better.

And if she still wants to wear it, just live with it! Happy Wife = Happy Life!

What do you think about this guy’s actions?

Was he rude or just speaking his mind?

Sound off in the comments! Thanks in advance!

Woman Asks if She’s Wrong For Wearing White as the Maid of Honor

I know I’m preaching to the choir, but I’m just gonna tell you one more time: it’s probably not a great idea to mess with a woman on their wedding day…or in the months leading up to it.

Just trust us on this one, okay?

But, people are gonna be people and this woman made what some folks would consider to be a huge error in judgment…or maybe not…

Check out this story from the “Am I The A**hole?” page on Reddit.

AITA for wearing white as Maid of Honor while my friend is “the Bride”?

“My best friend Joy (28F) is getting married next year to her long time partner. Recently she started wedding planning and asked me (29F) to be her maid of honor—we have been friends for nearly 20 years and needless to say I was super excited.

Joy has started planning, and it’s been incredibly stressful for her. I have tried my best to be as supportive and helpful where I can, going above and beyond (daily discussions, fielding unwieldy family members, acting a buffer sometimes). I am prefacing with this because the next part is frankly bonkers and I am having trouble processing.

Last Sunday, Joy and I met with some of our friends for lunch (we are all vaccinated at this point). Since it was the first time seeing friends in a while and we were going to a nice restaurant, I decided to dress up a little.

It was pretty hot over the weekend so I opted to wear an old, white linen dress to our gathering (one I have worn many times). I thought everything was totally fine, but I noticed Joy giving me strange looks at lunch and only talking in short responses with me. I brushed it off as stress and when we got up to say goodbye, Joy left in a rush.

When I got home, I was had a bunch of angry texts from Joy saying she was disappointed in me and couldn’t believe I would try to “dull her shine during this special time”. I was confused asked her to elaborate. Apparently she was furious that I had dared to wear white while she was the bride to be.

I was FLOORED. I apologized (kind of) stating that I was sorry she was so upset, but that I wasn’t sure how my wearing white to a casual friends hang was a slight on her being a bride, nor how it was taking attention away from her. She flipped out and called me all sorts of names, and said she has no idea how she could have picked such an unsupportive and attention-grabbing MOH.

I snapped a little and told her that while I respected she was getting married, that did not entitle her on a monopoly on the color white and that while her wedding was the most important thing going on in her life, it was not the most important thing going on in other peoples lives.

Now I am aware that a bride generally wears white to wedding related events and the guests should not, but this brunch was not wedding related in the slightest. I feel especially sad since I feel that I have gone out of my way to help, and our past friendship has been very calm and loving.

My friends are generally supportive of me (a few think I should have somehow had the foresight to see this—apparently psychic abilities are another MOH requirement I missed) but think I should just try to make peace since she is clearly under a lot of stress. I do feel a bit bad, especially about the comment about her wedding not being the most important thing in my life, but am not budging.

AITA?”

Oh, my…

Let’s see what folks on Reddit had to say about this.

This person said that, given the circumstances, this woman is not acting like a jerk.

At all.

This Reddit user said she should give the bride a chance to apologize and if she doesn’t, maybe it’s time to walk away.

Good point.

10 People Share the Worst Marriage Advice They Ever Got

It seems like when you get married, or are even thinking of getting married, people fall all over themselves to try to give you advice about it…

…especially if you didn’t ask.

And unsurprisingly, a lot of it turns out to be bad.

A ton of people chimed in after this prompt on Twitter. Let’s see what “words of wisdom” really aren’t.

10. Hard work

Isn’t this supposed to be like, an enjoyable part of my life?
Why should I expect it to be so miserable?

9. The good fight

Believe it or not there are ways to communicate that don’t involve constant quarreling.

8. Sexpectations

Believe it or not there are other things.

7. You are his

In a romantic sense, sure, in an ownership sense, nope nope nope nope nope.

6. The conversion rate

I guess it probably depends on how seriously you each take your faith.

5. Don’t get comfy

So you want me to spend the rest of my life uncomfortable?

4. You’ll always wonder

Yeah, this seems like a sad justification.

3. Happy wife, happy life

This mentality has always sort of reeked of “marriage is all about running around trying to make sure your wife isn’t angry” and painted, for me, a pretty grim picture of the idea.

2. Just kidding

Pretty absurd and insulting.

1. Hit the joint

Some couples find that keeping general finances separate saves them a lot of headaches.

So, if you want some good marriage advice, maybe just follow the opposite of all that.

What’s the worst advice you’ve ever gotten?

Woman Asks if She’s Wrong for Not Wanting Her Wheelchair-Bound Father to Walk Her Down the Aisle

Just the title of this article by itself makes me sad.

But that’s why the “Am I the *sshole?” forum on Reddit gives us interesting human stories to contemplate.

A woman asked if she was an *sshole for not wanting her father, who is in a wheelchair, to walk her down the aisle on her wedding day.

Let’s see what she had to say.

AITA for not wanting my dad to “walk” me down the aisle because he’s in a wheelchair?

“About three years ago my dad was injured in a really bad hit and run car accident.

He broke just about every bone in his body, and left him paralysed from the waist down. Our relationship has always been really good, but I hate seeing him in pain and admittedly try to avoid seeing him because it just makes me uncomfortable.

In November I’m getting married. I’ve been with my fiancé for 4 years and he and my dad get on really well. Naturally the discussion of who was going to give me away came up in the family group chat, and I kept silent after I realised my dad would be in a wheelchair.

We always talked about him giving me away and having a dance at my wedding and I don’t want to be reminded of what could’ve been at my wedding. I messaged my mom privately and told her I want my uncle to walk me down the aisle as we’re incredibly close.

She naturally asked why and I told her that my dad being in a wheelchair would add complications to the wedding. The walkway would have to be widened to accommodate his wheelchair and he wouldn’t be able to hold my arm or give me a proper hug.

She was outraged, called me an ableist POS and removed me from the group chat. My aunt has since called me telling me my dad is absolutely devastated. AITA?”

And here’s how folks on Reddit responded.

This person, who can relate to the woman’s story, said that she is definitely wrong in this case and the had a hard time believing that anyone could act this way.

Another reader called the woman out in a huge way.

This person made it clear: a wheelchair doesn’t make anyone less of a person.

Another person, who is disabled, also thinks that the woman is a major *sshole in this situation.

And finally, another woman talked about the role her disabled father played at her wedding. And yes, they also think this woman is an *sshole. I concur!

Wow…what do you think about what this woman did?
