Why, you ask?

Because people are trapped inside their houses and they’re GETTING IT ON, that’s why!

Funny Quarantine Pregnancy Announcements From People Who DEFINITELY Haven’t Been Social Distancing

What a strange time we’re living in. I never would have imagined in January that this is what 2020 would have turned out to be like.

A worldwide health crisis that shut down the economy and forces people to stay away from each other? Get out of here!

But here we are…

At least there are some positive things coming out of this awful situation. Like new additions on the way! I guess it’s pretty obvious that these folks HAVE NOT been social distancing. Hey o!

Let’s take a look at their funny quarantine pregnancy announcements.

1. The one where we were quarantined…

A little Friends reference for good measure.

2. You didn’t stay 6 feet away!

I’ve been baking more than cookies lately❤ . . Some may have noticed I kind of have been quiet on here… honestly the first trimester was beyond difficult and I have been nauseous CONSTANTLY (and royal icing was the only thing that made it worse!) 🤢 I am finally feeling myself again! . It has been killing me keeping this a secret from most. Because honestly the journey Keithan and I have been through has been tough. For two years we have tried for baby #2. Between both of us on fertility medicine, doctors telling us it was not possible, and countless negative pregnancy tests, we just did not think it was possible. December 2019, I accepted Raegan would be our only child. She is perfect in every way possible and I didn’t want my lack of conceiving to get in the way of my happiness of what we already had. . . As most of you know, we built a house and moved in January 2020. We spent a few months settling in and working on a lot of home projects and “trying” was far from on our mind. By mid March, Keithan says to me, “hey, when should we start trying again?” As to which I replied, “let’s wait after March, because I don’t want another December baby.” And surprise! I found out I was pregnant a few weeks later… WITH THE SAME DUE DATE AS RAEGAN! . . We are beyond ecstatic and overwhelmed with so much joy and happiness. We feel so blessed ❤

A Father-To-Be Figured out How to Have Date Nights With Wife While She Was Stuck in the Hospital

The arrival of this previously unknown illness has upended society in ways most of us never could have imagined just a few months ago. One of the populations it has affected in major but unforeseen ways are the women who are and were pregnant and/or about to give birth.

Hospitals are no longer places of refuge. It’s rough getting a health professional to come to your home. Partners, if they are allowed into the hospital with you at all, are only allowed for the birth. People are being sent home as soon as possible, and I can’t imagine how scary that might be for a first time mom.

Posted by Bob Conlin on Friday, May 22, 2020

In this case, a woman with complications was ordered to bed, in the hospital, until the birth of her child. Her husband, of course, was not allowed to visit (though he would be allowed to attend the birth).

Posted by Bob Conlin on Friday, May 22, 2020

Shona Moeller and her husband, Bob Conlin, were thrilled to have made it to week 29 in a rough pregnancy, even if it meant she had to be stuck in the hospital, in bed, for the duration. Still, he wondered if there wasn’t a way to lighten her mood, and for the two of them to stay connected, even though they couldn’t actually be together.

Posted by Bob Conlin on Friday, May 22, 2020

So Bob, crushing this husband thing, found a way for the two of them to still have a date night.

He sits 40 feet below her window with food, drinks, signs, and sometimes his mother or hers, just so Shona knows she (and their precious baby) are not alone.

Posted by Shona Moeller on Sunday, April 26, 2020

Things aren’t idea, but with a baby who had less than a 1% chance of survival after Shona’s water broke at just 5 months, the couple feels lucky despite it all.

A Black Mom Is Pregnant for the Fifth Time and She’s Not Here for the Haters

There are families all over TV who are celebrated for having a ton of kids. There are teenagers on cable television having two and three children before they’re old enough to drink. Religions push people into not using birth control with the argument that humans are meant to populate the (overpopulated) earth.

But listen, when black or brown people hit the town with their broods that include more than two or three littles, the judgment is quick and harsh.

They couldn’t possibly afford all of those children. They couldn’t possibly be a nuclear family? They must be a drain on society!

No.

And Leslie Lewis, a black mother of four and curator of the popular Instagram account @TheLewis_Show, just couldn’t keep quiet when people began to make snotty comments on her pregnancy announcement for their latest addition.

Leslie is married to her husband, Joe, and together they have two sons, two daughters, a scruffy dog, and one on. the way. They are ridiculously cute, usually in adorable, matching outfits (even the dog!), and she has a strong following – but the haters were ready to pounce on her post about #5 joining the crew.

“So, I don’t usually publicly address the Negative Nancys and Pouty Pauls that find it necessary to judge my life choices. BUT a number of ppl have been commenting and even having the nerve to send me DMs regarding my pregnancy… ‘I thought y’all was done?’ ‘How can y’all afford 5?’

Listen here! I am a married ADULT! I have one baby daddy (This post isn’t by any means intended to shame OR  offend anyone whose situation is different). I don’t appreciate getting messages about birth control and questions like ‘How did this happen?’ SEX…Sex is how it happened.”

Her post has grabbed 65,000 likes and tons of comments in support of her decision to speak up, more than a few of whom mentioned the divide between how large white families and large families of color are treated.

HAPPY MONDAY 🤸🏾🎉💛💙💛💙💛💙💛💙 I first off we want to send a huge Thank You! To all of you that responded to our Yahoo Article. We received so many positive responses and over 3k DM’s, I wish I could respond to all of you personally, but I just don’t have the capacity. Some of them were so touching and a lot of you mentioned, “It’s not about race”- and I’m realizing that some people truly believe that but, unfortunately, because of that pesky systemic racism and oppression in our society ITS ALWAYS ABOUT RACE. From the comments about the Duggar’s, John and Kate plus 8, and the Goslings etc… it had us thinking. Reality TV, these networks and production companies would feed off the drama of a single parent household, or Joe being married to 4 different women ( but he lightweight is with all these hair changes and mood swings 🤔) and had a bad past. Y’all want me to be fighting on TV so bad, but as a family we refuse to be portrayed in that light. Sell our soul to the devil for a contract. No ma’am or sir. We don’t want to be on TV that bad. We believe the right doors will open at the right time and you all will tune in to the love and light we will continue to portray! BRING BACK The images of BLACK FAMILIES ✊🏽🗣 that was me yelling out loud my thoughts while typing this caption.. as I scrolled through our pics I realized, we are what ppl want to see but it’s too strong of an image to see on TV. We don’t have any real drama going on, damn it! Me:Joe let’s make some shit up to give the ppl what they want! Joe: F*** that! Me: My N!€€@ ✊🏽 #TheLewisFamily #marriedwithchildren #Sf #Influencers #Real #BlackLove #TheCoordiNatedFamily #OldNavy #Blue #Yellow #HelloMonday #FashionFamily

“Tell ’em sis! The Duggars captured 2.3M viewers. Now when brown and black families have large families, folks and their microaggressions assume we are exploiting the system,” said one person.

“This is definitely a ppl of color issue. No one questions white women when they have large families, hell it’s encouraged but ppl are always policing our brown bodies,” agreed another.

When Leslie spoke with Yahoo Lifestyle, she said that one woman’s comment in particular encouraged her to speak up.

“The last straw was when another woman felt the need to send me really hurtful messages assuming I must be on welfare and how I should be on birth control, etc.”

Leslie would like to use her platform and her influence to help normalize the idea that people of color, and working-class families across the board, are allowed to – and always have had – larger families.

“I have learned to use my platform to uplift families and women of color, and to use the criticism as fuel to meet and exceed my personal and family goals! Maybe one day we will get a reality show since there’s no families of color with multiple kids on TV that people can relate to.”

“We see pictures, we say goals, Bish I’m who they trying to be! – ~Cardi!”(who else started head- boppin?! Lol 😂) Real Talk .. Modeling your life after someone else’s will never work, especially when it comes to your relationship. I believe it’s a huge mistake to compare your partner to anyone else, that’s right ladies, not your brother, father, uncle, best friend…ANYONE. You have no idea what your favorite couples have gone through behind closed doors, what pain and dark moments they had to endure. Even the most beautiful “perfect” couples have made countless sacrifices and compromises to ensure the success of their marriages. We have been together for almost 2 decades, no one can imagine what Joe and I have been through that got us to this point in our relationship and it’s not over! It’s like your favorite songs, you play over and over but never realize the amount of studio time it took to polish it up. Love is so much more than a word, it is a multi-layered commitment to another person, I like to use Live Over Various Events,L.O.V.E…see what i did there? LOL. It’s a shitload of time, giving, FORgiving, learning, growing and patience. Joe can attest to my resilience, my support, my love, my cries, my laughs and my crazy psycho Cancer moments that he’s gotten used to…mostly. I have learned to get through his ignoring moments, being less affectionate than what I’m used to, leaving all the water on the bathroom sink and all the clothes on the side of the bed 😫 Send Help! This shit just didn’t happen over night, we are not a ‘one hit wonder’. We are the real thing, and after 18 years, we are still learning, evolving, and loving US. I don’t know about you, but I’d definitely be on board to watch these cuties (plus the little girl that’s coming soon!) run around being adorable and changing perceptions all over the world.

Do you think she was right to call out the haters? Why do you suppose people of color have to deal with more judgment surrounding a decision to have many kids? Let’s discuss in the comments!

Or, you know, we can also just talk about which of her family’s outfits are the best, but that road would be long and winding and never end, I fear!

A Woman Wants to Know If She Was Wrong for Leaving a Baby Shower Thrown by Her Creepy In-Laws

The time you spend pregnant and postpartum are some of the most vulnerable of our lives. We’re trying to care for ourselves, to care for another human being that depends solely on us, and the hormones swirling around combine with other physical changes to make our emotional states understandably fragile.

It can be a trying (but joyous!) time if you’ve got a great support system around you, so I can’t imagine what this woman has gone through with her husband and in-laws bizarre behavior.

She tells the Reddit forum Am I The A**hole that since she got pregnant her husband has been a bit too excited, and has all but stopped calling her by her name in favor of using “Mommy,” even though she’s asked him to stop.

His family, bizarrely, calls her by the baby’s name.

Even though she expressly asked her mother-in-law to not throw her a party, she did it anyway, using a “gift” from her son to trick the woman into showing up. They groped her belly, ordered a distasteful cake that she couldn’t eat (because her husband wasn’t “allowing” her to eat dairy or processed sugar “for the baby”) and when she said she wanted to leave, he said she was acting crazy.

She left anyway, calling a cab and going home before letting him know she was fine, and even though only 30 minutes had passed, he had called the police.

Now, he’s angry and the in-laws want him to divorce her and sue for full custody and she’s not sure if she overreacted.

No one – no one – thinks she’s the a**hole here.

Largely because she’s being mentally and emotionally abused by an entire family.

I mean, who does this kind of thing to somebody who’s pregnant?!?

The advice to get out of there, live with her family and talk to her doctor, seem very valid to me, a woman who has been there (not pregnant, thank goodness).

She hasn’t posted any updates, and I join everyone else on Reddit hoping that she and the baby are okay.

A Mom Brought a Nerf Gun to Her Delivery to Keep Her Husband Awake and Alert

Delivering babies is no joke…but also, if you’re not the one being kept awake by pains, poking, prodding, shifting, baby’s cries, or some combination of the above, well, it can be tough to stay alert through it all.

I mean, labor can last a long time, I get it. Everyone is tired afterward (except your baby). But if you’re there to play the role of supportive partner, napping really shouldn’t be an option.

Which is exactly what expectant mom Samatha Mravik-Miller was thinking when she included a Nerf gun in her hospital bag.

Mom hack level 1,0000Worried about the nights in the hospital with your new born & dad sleeping?Well… then don’t forget one of these in your hospital bag 🤣

Posted by Samantha Mravik-Miller on Sunday, December 15, 2019

Her post read,

“Worried about the nights in the hospital with your newborn & dad sleeping?

Well…then don’t forget one of these in your hospital bag.”

She included a photo of her holding the gun, ready to wake him up the moment he dared think that a women who had just birthed a baby should be the same person losing the most sleep.

Samantha told Romper that she’d gotten the idea “because when my 5-year-old was born my husband slept through him crying in the hospital.”

The comments were full of their own stories, convincing everyone that this was a widespread issue – and that Nerf guns might be the answer.

Said one mom,

“Threw 2 shoes at my husband to get him to wake up.

First night at the hospital after a c section and I couldn’t get out of bed easily.”

Another chimed in, tagging her husband.

“I needed this for when you were sleeping, and I couldn’t get up cause of the scar.”

If there’s one thing that reading this post has taught me (and probably women everywhere) is that even if husbands sleeping through those first days is normal, it doesn’t have to be.

I’d say it’s long past time to take matters into our own hands, wouldn’t you, ladies?

A Mom Lost Her Son and Then Donated 500 Ounces of Breast Milk to Babies in Need

A mom whose baby passed away found a way to turn her personal tragedy into a way to help other babies in need.

Sierra Strangfeld lost her unborn son, Samuel, in September after he was diagnosed with a rare condition called Trisomy 18, or Edwards syndrome. Sierra had been excited to breastfeed Samuel, who was her second child. But she never got that chance.

Heartbroken, Sierra decided to donate her breast milk to babies in need.

“I couldn’t save Samuel’s life, but maybe I could save another baby’s life,” she wrote on Facebook.

She pumped for 63 days after Samuel’s birth — until November 13, his due date. That day, she went to the NICU milk banks to make her last donation.

“Pumping is not for the faint of heart,” she admitted. “It’s hard. Mentally and physically. And it’s even harder when you don’t actually have a baby.”

Posted by Sierra Strangfeld on Wednesday, November 13, 2019

Sometimes, she was angry that her milk came in in the first place: “Why did my milk have to come in when I had no baby to feed? Why was I waking up in the middle of the night for this?” But ultimately, she said, it was all worth it, as it felt like the only thing connecting her to Samuel. “I sure hope he’s proud of me! Walking through the hallways of the hospital was just another step in healing. And I know, (because I felt him), that Samuel was there with me.”

In total, Sierra — who describes herself as “not an over supplier by any means” — managed to donate 500 ounces of breast milk. Her original goal was 1000 ounces, but she didn’t produce quite enough milk for that.

Posted by Sierra Strangfeld on Wednesday, November 13, 2019

Sierra also started a nonprofit organization: Smiling For Samuel. Her organization, and her touching story, are raising awareness about Trisomy 18 — and warming hearts everywhere.
