15 of the Best Takes on Thor: Ragnarok

Do you remember Thor: Ragnarok?

Almost feels like lifetimes ago now, but it’s been just a few years since the wild and hilarious addition to the MCU came to us courtesy of director Taika Waititi. It was a smash hit, making back about five times its budget and earning over 90% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Disney has always been smart with the Marvel franchise, and that includes course corrections when needed. The Thor installments up to that point had been just a little too heavy and somber – the colorama Goldblum-blessed feast of Ragnarok turned that around quick, and the internet noticed.

Of course, you can’t talk fandom without talking Tumblr. Here are just a few of the best Tumblr fan takes on the film.

15. Absolutely Shakespearean

Turns out most people who spend all their time yelling about how they should be in charge don’t actually have that much to offer. Who knew.

Tumblr Users Wrote a Marvel/Star Wars Crossover We All Want to See

There are like, what, 400 MCU movies now? A few are really excellent, most are pretty good, some are a little ho-hum. But with the huge volume of characters that have been pulled in at this point (not to mention the massive trove of other properties Disney owns), the possibilities for future stories are truly infinite.

Here’s a pitch some Tumblr users put together for an installment that I personally think would blow Ant Man the Wasp out of the water.

“There’s an Ant Man AND a Spiderman?”

Then you pull in that other massive Disney franchise, and things get REAL…

You know they’ll bring Tony back eventually, so… he’s gonna join the fun ASAP.

Just imagine the soundtrack of this thing!

Cue the Guardians of the Galaxy…

Personally, I’m a little burned out on the MCU, but I would see the hell out of this.

Would you? Pitch your next big Marvel idea in the comments.

Who know… they might be watching…

Stan Lee’s 1968 Column Denouncing Racism is Just as Powerful Today as it Was Then

On November 12, 2018, Stan Lee – the man who gave us iconic Marvel superheroes like Spiderman, the X-Men, and so many more – passed away of old age. What made his creations so truly compelling is that his characters were so human. They took on social problems of the time, and dealt with some very human problems.

For many years, Marvel comics also included a column called “Stan’s Soapbox.” This column served as a vehicle for Lee to express his views on a wide variety of issues. Back in 1968, one of those columns dealt with the problem of racism, and it’s recently taken on a new life as it circulates around Twitter.

“Bigotry and racism are among the deadliest social ills today,” Lee wrote. “The only way to destroy them is to expose them.”

Lee retweeted the column in 2017 after the white supremacist march on Charlottesville, Virginia. The tweet said, “As true today as it was in 1968. Pax et Justitia -Stan,” according to Mashable.

Lee introduced the world to Luke Cage and Black Panther, and often used his X-Men comics and characters to expose prejudice and bigotry. His honor, humor and wit will be greatly missed by fans.
