Grumpy Cat’s Successor Has Been Found – and She Might be Even Grumpier

No one can ever replace Grumpy Cat, but the folks at Bored Panda got the scoop of the decade with their expose on her spiritual successor.

I’m sure I don’t have to tell you about OG Grumpy – whose real name was Tardar Sauce – the angry-looking kitty who took the internet by storm when her pictures were posted to Reddit back in 2012. Fun fact; she actually shared a manager with Keyboard Cat, and actually starred in a Lifetime movie where she was voiced by Aubrey Plaza.

Tardar Sauce unfortunately passed away in 2019, but her memes will be with us always. And they may have company from some very grumpy pics of Meow Meow, a Taiwanese cat who was introduced to the internet by her human Clare.

If your first thought is “Reincarnation???” you should probably note that, according to Clare, Meow Meow may well actually be older than the late great Grumpy Cat.

Just when I thought I understood how cat souls work…

Clare attributes Meow Meow’s angry aura to the “Batman”-like mask of dark fur around her eyes, and the internet seems to agree.

Like Tardar before her, Meow Meow is actually very sweet in person.

Her hobbies include bird-watching and massaging her human awake every morning.

She is sincerely grumpy about at least one thing, though: food. She hates pretty much all of it that doesn’t come from one specific can.

“She’s tried nearly everything but she only likes that one,” Clara said.

Facebook has been quick to offer their hot takes on this newcomer’s place in the meme-iverse.

Amazon Prime Offers TV Programs for Your Cat

Amazon Prime has a brand new solution if you feel guilty about leaving your pets at home: TV for cats.

This is real.

The streaming service is full of videos to entertain indoor cats, featuring footage of birds, chipmunks, squirrels, and more birds. The service could keep cats from getting bored while you’re at work all day — or you could even throw the TV on for your indoor cat while you’re home.

The videos include such riveting titles as “Movies for Cats – Forest Birds and Chipmunks,” “Songbirds and Squirrels on a Tree,” and “Baby Robin’s Day Out.” The videos mimic the experience of looking out the window, watching the birds and other critters.

The only potential side effect of cat TV? Your cat may end up attempting to hunt your television. This genre gives “reality TV” a whole new meaning.

If you don’t have Amazon Prime, your cats can still enjoy the same experience, because YouTube is full of videos for cats for free. In fact, these free videos were the inspiration behind Amazon Prime’s Cat TV service, according to a blog post.

Amazon Fire TV software engineer Sue Kim says her cat Ruby adores these videos.

“I simply leave the video playing when I leave for work, and that occupies Ruby until her nap,” Sue writes. “She also doesn’t get so upset when I leave.”

Dogs would likely enjoy watching cat TV too, especially the shows with squirrels or chipmunks. Bonus: The nature-oriented videos seem pretty darn calming for humans, too!

These Funny Cat Memes Should Brighten Your Day

I’ve had some cats in my life and each one had their own hilarious personality and their own weird little quirks.

Our first cat Mr. Whiskers was a stray that we took in and he liked to crawl in and out of the neighborhood sewers. I’d be walking home from school and he’d come and greet me by literally crawling out of the sewer. Esmeralda was definitely an indoor cat and she liked to hang out on the back porch and take in as much sun as possible…oh, and she relished in tormenting our dogs.
