The “Style Not Size” Series Shows that Body Type Doesn’t Really Matter in Fashion

Denise Mercedes and Maria Castellanos are entrepreneurs, models, and friends who have made quite a splash on Instagram with their “Style not Size” series – a collaboration between the two women, both of different height, shape, and ethnicity, showing off side-by-side displays of the same outfits, and absolutely rocking every one of them.

The idea here is simple but expertly achieved; fashion isn’t about having this or that body type, it’s about crafting your look and having confidence! Try as you might, there’s just no way to say who wears it better in any one of these. Here are just a few examples of this killer set!

This Artist Removed the Makeup from Dolls Faces and the Results Are Crazy

There has been a recent movement among some celebrities to take selfies without makeup, and among some models and actresses to refuse Photoshop. In the same vein, people have been railing for awhile against dolls like Barbies giving young girls unrealistic expectations, but what about the fact that all dolls – even the ones designed for young children – have crazy, made-up faces?

I honestly never really thought about what a doll would look like without it’s overly big eyes and bright red mouth, but let me tell you – after seeing these images, I won’t ever look at them the same again.

Ukrainian artist Olga Kamenetskaya not only strips dolls of their old faces, she gives them new ones in return. Each doll is unique and flawed in her own way, making her as “real” as humanly possible.

She told Vogue that she doesn’t like “when the new face of the doll is ideal and perfectly symmetrical, it makes it lifeless. I always deliberately leave some flaw that may not be noticeable to everyone, but gives the doll invisible charisma.”

“Perhaps this flawed beauty is the message that my dolls carry.”

Whatever the message, it’s hard to argue with her end result – her dolls are far more beautiful for their flaws.

At least, in my opinion.
